Second wave of covid19 affected rural life

                           By Rajkumar Sahu

Vaccination  plays a vital role in covid 19 battle.Unless we provide them the awareness about good hygienic practice, afford them the basic urgent needs only vaccination cant break the chain, it is like a loosen war against covid19

.About 70 percent people of total population live in rural village in India. Major part of them belong to BPL category and survive by daily earning basis by working in local firms, construction sites ,agricultural fields etc. They spend a quite different style of living as really we know about them and village infrastructure by watching news or knowing the schemes and planning what the Government declared for them time to time. Its true that they are getting free rations, money package by CM or PM time to time, free and compulsory education to their children in village level and some medical assistance but it can not make a society healthy, wealthy and progressive and it is not the long term goal to make rural life perfect and sustainable.

All of us we know in  the year 2020 India faced Covid-19 brutally. Our Govt imposed lockdown and shutdown to break the chain of infections of virus but the  returning of migrant worker to their home exhibited many problems, all world stunned seeing the plight of our people and it caused many-many covid19 infections.

Still Government have managed by some new  experiment and ideas by opening  TMCs(temporary medical camps),CCCs(covid care centres),CCHs(covid care homes),DCHs(district covid hospitals) etc and somewhat after a year long journey with covid 19 we saw flattened of the curve to some extent. And  the impact was majorly in urban or semi urban area. But in the second wave which emerged last week of Feb 2021 spraded to the  village rural pastoral life and  the situation went beyond the control asno proper modality, awarenessand guideline for the people implemented in direct basis. By the time India became the third worst affected country after America and Brazile .

Everyone know what the life of rural people and how they spend daily routine.Though various benevolent mission have been launched to elevate the style and habit of the rural people some what it seems meaningless and frutless for them.In some extent the people have no time to care and audit the what the guidelines by the administration is. For a example , Safety Latrine have been constructed in every household but some of them are only in pen and paper or if constructed not used by the household or not in functional state. Water supply have remained as a dream project for majority of villages in rural India. Rather they concentrate on the free jobs supplied to them by the Government which is making the people lazy and reluctance for work.

In the second wave of the covid 19 community infection occurred which have effected the life of rural people brutally. The daily labourer lost their work .Striven by continuous lockdown and shutdown  they faced scarcity of rations and made bound to purchase in hike rate what available locally .Goverment failed to control the venders or whole seller in order to supply the urgent needs of people for survive.Severals guidelines framed by the Government to defeat the pandemic, all have been communicated through the Health Workers,AWWs,ASHAs but still it understood unreasonable by the villager what actually happened primarily by the rural people .

All cultural functions, marriage ceremony ,meeting and schooling of children has been banned by the administration which impacted the socio cultural life of people.Major festival like Car festival ( Puri), Nuakhai Parab( Western Odisha) etc have been prohibited to break the chain affected the life .

Kendu leaf pluckers have been beaten up by the second wave covid19  pandemic  as it comes in the time of May-June when the Kendu Bushes grow up and purchased by the company through the goverment. Most of them have not got the chances of plucking for covid positive tested or likely that symptoms .Those have  collected not reached to even their minimum requirement of Kendu leaves to include their name in insurance category as fixed by the company .

Mahuaa flower collectors have also suffered in this period as facing selling problems persisted in the time and manged to sell it to local personal in low cost. Closure of classroom activity deconstructed  the mind of the primary students .They are in a dilemma regarding their studying class as next session is going on after getting free promotion.

In the second wave more positive cases have found in rural villages which means more testing have been done to break the chain. At first people were not aware about it and used to consult local quack for their health disorder like fever, cold, diarrhea, headache and spent much money but happy to mention that by the impact of media, social media or by some social worker or by health official they got aware and come forward for testing that results the rising the positive cases and  graph is approaching thepeak.By doing antigen or RTPCR and by the advice of doctors and MPHW(F)s they got aware about the way of infection and isolation which causes more rural people to recover form covid19 and break the chain of spreading. Using of mask, sanitizer and proper social distancing seen in the second wave of the pandemic in rural area which is a positive outcome and good hygienic practice to be used by the rural people.

The mortality rate in the second wave is not greater than preceding one.Though we have lost our some near and dear in the covid 19 it has left footprint to aware the rural people about good health and hygiene practice to say. By doing this we with  the rurals can defeat carona novel virus or black fungus any other pandemic evils of the world .Precaution is better than cure.It is the time to take precaution by the villagers also for better health and zero infection among them.

Now second wave of covid19 is running on.Vaccination  plays a vital role in covid 19 battle.More and more people could be vaccinated. We have to make palatable the vaccine for the youth ( age between 18-44) to lessen the fatality or mortality rate.Vaccination for the children also be prepared as per as possible and everyone of the nation be positive in mind and soul that we must win against the covid19 very soon.

Again as per the rural people concerns, unless we provide them the awareness about good hygienic practice, afford them the basic urgent needs only vaccination cant break the chain, it is like a losen war against covid19 to say.
